Chornobyl is a historical disaster thriller game based on the immediate consequences of the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster in the Soviet Union.  Released on February 13, 2024, it is the debut game title of Radiointeractive Game Studios.

BACKGROUND

Chornobyl is based on the actions of Valery Ivanovich Perevozchenko, the reactor section foreman of Unit 4 at Chernobyl. 

On the night of the accident, he received a fatal dose of radiation (10,000 roentgens per hour or 90 μA/kg) and radiation burns on his side and back from attempting to rescue coworkers - as well as manually lower the reactor control rods. 

He succumbed to his burns, infected wounds and Graft-versus-host disease on June 13th, 1986. Posthumously, he was awarded the third degree of the Ukrainian Order For Courage.

OBJECTIVE

Avoid flames and other safety hazards as you make your way down contaminated corridors, narrow stairwells and damaged sections of the plant - marching towards your inevitable death.
